LAMICARE DRO Uganda was born from a simple yet powerful collective vision: a society where every person with a disability is recognized, valued, and empowered. We saw a gap between the promise of equality and the reality of daily life for many in our communities. We started as a small group of volunteers and have grown into a trusted community-based organization. We believe that change starts at the grassroots level. By working directly with families, local leaders, and persons with disabilities, we create sustainable solutions that respect local culture while promoting universal human rights..
LAMICARE DRO Uganda is a non-governmental, non-profit, and community-based organization operating in the heart of Uganda. We were born from a collective vision of a society where disability is not a barrier, but a part of human diversity. We work alongside persons with disabilities (PWDs) to break down barriers, advocate for rights, and build inclusive communities.
We are a community-based organization in Uganda dedicated to ensuring that every person with a disability is recognized, valued, and empowered to live a life of dignity.
Our membership structure includes a significant representation of persons with disabilities on our Board of Directors. This reflects our deep commitment to centring the voices and leadership of those we serve.
We operate with transparency and accountability, ensuring that our financial management is rigorous and subject to independent audits. We maintain zero tolerance for corruption and fraud, with robust policies to manage conflicts of interest and ensure data privacy.
To uphold the dignity of persons with disabilities through robust advocacy and awareness campaigns, challenging stigma and promoting a society where their rights are respected, and they can live with full dignity and influence.
